Service Description

Ready for the Royal Kennel Club Silver Award? We're excited to offer this testing session for dogs and handlers who are ready for the next challenge! This test introduces fun, new exercises like polite greetings, road walking, vehicle control, and a longer stay. Who Can Book This Session? This session is exclusively for those who meet the following criteria: Completed the Bronze Award: You must have passed your Royal Kennel Club Bronze Award. Currently Training With Us: This booking option is for our existing training members. Transferring from Elsewhere? If you earned your Bronze Award somewhere else, please contact us first before booking. Preparing for the Test To ensure everyone feels confident and has a fair chance to shine on test day, we have a few requirements: Train in Class: All participating dogs must train in our classes together for the two months leading up to the test. Minimum Sessions: You'll need to attend at least 5 out of the last 8 training sessions. This helps all the dogs get to know each other and relax in a group setting. Building Trust: The Silver test includes off-lead work and group road walking, so it is vital that the dogs trust each other and their environment. Meet the Assessor Your dog's progress will be evaluated by a fully qualified KC Good Citizen Assessor. We pride ourselves on having assessors who are up-to-date with all the latest criteria from the Royal Kennel Club, many having recently completed refresher courses. Exercises You'll Master The Silver Award focuses on practical, everyday competence. It's about showing your dog is a happy, manageable, and well-behaved member of the community. Key exercises include: Controlled Greeting: Your dog will learn to politely greet a visitor without jumping up. Road Walking: Master walking nicely on a loose lead, even in busier environments. Vehicle Control: Demonstrate your dog can be safely secured and left alone in a vehicle. Play: Learn appropriate play techniques that build your bond and serve as a great reward. Stay: Your dog will perform a longer, two-minute stay in one place. Come Away: Practice reliable recalls away from engaging distractions. Food Manners: Help your dog learn to ignore yummy human food nearby. Examination of the Dog: Build trust so your dog comfortably allows a stranger to inspect their mouth, ears, body etc. More info : https://www.royalkennelclub.com/media/1929/gcdssilver.pdf Please read our terms and conditions before booking.
