Home Behavioural Consultation (up to 3h)
Professional and very experienced, highly successful support for behavioural issues and concerns.
Service Description
Often it is difficult to know where to turn when your pet develops a problem with its behaviour. Some behaviours develop quickly and it is clear that the animal needs support but sometimes these behaviours creep up on you and it takes time to realise a quirk in behaviour is a problem. You try to manage the situation until it becomes clear that it is not under your control and you may even become afraid of your pet. Asking an expert for help will increase your probability of a positive outcome and reduce the possibility of the behaviour becoming even more extreme. We can help with a wide range of animal behaviours, including, but not exclusively, separation anxiety, aggression towards people and other animals, fear responses, excessive barking, excessive scratching, house soiling, territorial behaviour, possessive behaviour, out-of-control behaviour in and out of the home, excessive chewing and home damage. Many regional vets send their clients our way to help improve the quality of their animals' lives. They do this because of the quality of our service and the positivity of our outcomes. We achieve this by taking an intensive history of the animal and looking at all parts of its lifestyle, which includes a medical history from the referring vet. We use the history and the animal's current behaviour to understand the animal's behaviour and design an individual behaviour modification programme using the most up-to-date, scientifically based techniques. Training is given on how to administer the behaviour modification programme and a written copy of the information is provided to both yourself and your vet. Each behaviour modification programme is unique, it will be tailored to your animal's needs, its personality, its history and your concerns. This individual approach is the basis of our endeavour and is at the heart of all we do. You can either be referred by your vet or you can contact us directly to book a consultation. Our consultations take place at your home to ensure we see the most natural animal behaviour and they usually last between 2 and 3 hours, this is much longer than most other consultants but we believe that this time is essential to get to know you and your pet and understand the issues you are concerned about. Follow up consultations are usually about an hour and can be booked with the initial consultation or up to 4 weeks later, as required. Some insurance companies will cover the cost of the consultations
